Java applet

Use this iDevice to include resources made with other applications (Jclic, Descartes, Scratch, Geogebra, ...) Unlike the rest of the iDevices, whose use is simple, the use of this has a greater complexity, although in the latest version of eXeLearning this has been simplified a lot. Bear in mind that Java applets are a legacy technology and should be thoroughly tested in all potential use cases.

As Java Applets are a legacy technology their use is not covered in detail, if you want to use them look at http://exelearning.net/html_manual/exe20/index.html and run the relevant section through Google Translate, knowing the context this is easy enough to follow.

Geogebra, Jclic, Scratch y Descartes

Geogebra

  • We click on the iDevice "Applet de java"

  • Once the Java Applet is open, we select the option "Geogebra" from the "Type of applet" drop-down. Automatically the necessary code will be generated for the inclusion of the applet.

  • We will have to add our geogebra file (.gbb) and load it using the buttons for that purpose.

Java applet Select the option "Geogebra" from the "Type of applet" drop-down Add our geogebra file (.gbb) and load it

Example

Jclic

  • We click on the iDevice "Applet de java"

  • Select the option "Jclic" from the "Type of applet" drop-down. Automatically the necessary code will be generated for the inclusion of the applet.

  • We will have to add our Jclic file and load it using the buttons for that purpose.

Example

Scratch

  • We click on the iDevice "Applet de java"

  • Select the option "Scratch" from the "Type of applet" drop-down. Automatically the necessary code will be generated for the inclusion of the applet.

  • We will have to add our Scratch file (.sb) and load it using the buttons to that effect.

Note: for security reasons of JAVA in its different versions, Scratch will not be displayed locally. To visualize it in local you will have to install old versions of JAVA.

Example

Descartes

  • We click on the iDevice "Applet de java"
  • We choose the option "Descartes" from the "Type of applet" drop-down. Automatically generate the necessary code for the inclusion of the applet.
  • We must add our URL and load the applet using the buttons for this purpose.

Example

Practice eXe: insert a Java applet

Try the following procedures:

  1. Open the file myfile2.elp that you created in the previous activity (You can double click on it).
  2. Insert a java applet type Descartes. You can include one that downloaded or use the one that appears in this link.
  3. Insert a Java applet type JClic. You can include one that downloaded or use the one that appears in this link.
  4. Save the changes. (File> Save)
