Equality, a reality and not a dream!

It's not a dream

Welcome to this awesome new learning adventure in which you are going to improve both your English skills and your ICT ones by using as a  context  the Sustainable Development  Goals (or SDG)  of the 2030 AGENDA. There are 17 sustainable development goals, do you already know them?

"Equality a reality and not a dream" is part of the "2030 Agenda" projects. These projects can be done either following a pre-established order or without following it.

Along this project you will familiarize with specific SDG of the 2030 AGENDA. These are:

  • SDG 5: Gender Equality.
  • SDG 8: Decent work, good and economic growth.
  • SDG 9: Reduced inequalities.
  • SDG 16: Peace and justice and strong institutions.

 We invite you to be a changemaker to transform our world in the world we all deserve.

We need creative students who take action to solve a social problem.

You are going to develope  the key competences  and the specific competences (multilingualism and interculturality, oral and written comprehension, oral and written expression, oral and written interaction and  oral and written mediation) at the same time you practice basic knowledge such as the expression of conditionals and the future, word questions, intonation in questions (up and down) and vocabulary of jobs and related to the semantic field of gender equality, peace and justice.

You will have to do different tasks (individually, in pairs and in groups) to be able to do the great final product.

If you finish successfully all your tasks and the final challange of the project you will get the following Certificate of participation and a Changemaker card (download in editable odt format, download in pdf).  Moreover, after every TASK, you will get a sticker, there are five different models. Get of all of them!

2030 Agenda: EQUALITY AS REALITY AND NOT AS DREAM

LET’S START THE BALL ROLLING!

In groups, they have to answer several questions in order to have clear their rights at work.

SDG 5: GENDER EQUALITY

-The students will watch a video to understand better goal number 5, they will answer a few questions  to check their comprehension.

- They will read an article about ‘Gender Equality’ which is not adapted using strategies such as skimming and scanning for relevant information.

- In teams, they must debate about the current situation families have. The main question they are asked is: Who does the housework in your family?

- They will play a game called Job Guessing by observing letters, they have to identify and fill in the missing words to be able to guess different jobs.

In the 1st TASK, they will work in groups to create an infographic in order to encourage women for empowerment.

SDG 8: DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH

-The students will watch a video to understand better goal number 10, they will answer a few questions to check their comprehension.

- They will read an article about ‘Decent work and Economic Growth’ which is not adapted and will skim and scan the article for relevant information.

- They will debate about supporting local economy growth.

 They will do some interactive worksheets to practice zero and first conditional. 

In the 2nd TASK, in pairs, they will prepare questions to do a video job interview but first they will  watch a video to practice the intonation in questions.

SDG 10: REDUCED INEQUALITIES

-The students will watch a video to understand better goal number 10, they will answer a few questions in order to check their comprehension.

- They will read an article about ‘Reduced Inequalities’ which is not adapted and will skim and scan the article for relevant information.

- The students in groups will debate about “Reducing inequalities is a question of will”. In order to do so, they will have some interactive worksheets to practice the 2nd and 3rd conditional.

In the 3rd TASK, in groups, they will collaborate to eradicate inequality by doing a timeline  of the country chosen in order to see along the history its evolution about reducing inequality.

SDG 16: PEACE & JUSTICE AND STRONG INSTITUTIONS

-The students will watch a video to understand better goal number 16, they will answer a few questions  to check their comprehension.

- They will read an article about ‘Peace & Justice and Strong Institutions’ which is not adapted and will skim and scan the article for relevant information.

- They have to write some ideas about how to make a better world and to comment them with their classmates to practice will, be+going to and present continuous. They have also some interactive worksheets to practice.

In the 4th and last TASK, in groups, they have to write a News Report with the title ‘Peaceful World’ but before, they will review questions words.

MEDIA IMPACT

-The students will play a game  to know vocabulary related to the staff who works in a newspaper or magazine office. The definitions and some letters are given to guess the words.

They will do the Final Challenge by creating a digital site with news report about the sustainable goals studied in this project.
