Let's go to the beach today

Venice Beach is a neighbourhood of Los Angeles next to the sea. The place is known for its canals and its promenade, where various kinds of street performers entertain passers-by at all hours.

Venice Beach is also where bodybuilders show their muscles, as well as numerous beach volleyball and basketball courts. Surfers also love this place and there are a lot of murals on many of the buildings.

At the end of the session, you will have:

visited Venice Beach in Los Angeles.
known the difference in pronunciation between /ae/ - /a:/
drawn the route of different landmarks at the Los Angeles google map.

Watch the info video of Venice Beach in its official website and enjoy all that this town can offer to you. After that, answer the following questions:

Which museum do you consider the most interesting? (Visit Museum section)
Which activity would you choose? (Visit Fitness section)
How much would you have to pay in the City Parking Lots in winter? And in summer? (Visit Parking section)

Phonetics is really important in English in order to pronounce words correctly. In this project, we are going to take a look at how to pronounce correctly the following phonemes: /ae/ - /a:/

/ae/or /a:/.

These phonemes are part of the phonetic chart that is used to describe the sounds of many languages. They have been established by the International Phonetic Association (IPA). For more information about the IPA and their work visit: IPA's official web page.

Apart from this, you can record yourself practising these words in English. You have to pronounce them correctly, record a podcast with them and share it in your blog.

Your Challenge: Los Angeles at the Google Site

Challenge Step 3: Organizing the Los Angeles entry at your Google Site

At this step, you have to start organising all the information you have gathered in order to add an entry at the site that we had previously opened.

Each group ( 2 / 3 people) has to organise the information you have searched about Los Angeles at your Google Site. Creativity in the distribution of the contents is very important.

At this step, you have to include the following information at your Google Sites: the map of the city from Google maps with the route of the ten steps we have in our tour of the city.
