Royal Botanic Garden

An oasis in the middle of Sydney!

The Royal Botanic Gardens are just a few minutes away from the Sydney Opera House. The gardens were opened in 1816 and there are 30 hectares of gardens with towering trees, palm trees, orchids, among other kinds of plants and flowers. At the Palace Rose Garden, the visitor can find some 1,800 roses and the Rare and Threatened Plants Garden.

After exploring these gardens, visitors can relax at the café or restaurants, or maybe enjoy a picnic with friends and family having some beautiful harbour views. Next to the gardens is the Domain, a popular place with open green space and some sports areas. Tourists can also enjoy some views of Government House, the official residence of the governor of New South Wales.
