Reducing inequalities is a question of will: DEABATE in groups.

Money

Here you have some examples:

  • If the country had invested more money in education, a big number of inhabitants would have now further studies (ex. 3rd conditional)
  • If poor families had an education of quality, their children would  have a better life (ex. 2nd conditional)
  • If more women had a decent job,  they would have the chance to help other women (ex. 2nd conditional)

In order to do a great debate, it is essential to use the conditionals correctly:

Task 3: Collaborate to erradicate inequality

Countries were working hard but the pandemic reverse progress and also the war of Ukraine because of the high number of refugees.

In groups, you are going to choose a country that along the history could have erradicated several inequalities but did not and now regrets.

Then, in groups, you will do a timeline.

To create a very visual timeline, you can use  Canva, Genially and even  the iDevice 'mapa' in exelearning.

Tips for creating a timeline:

  • Choose a country.
  • Be clear about what you want to show on the timeline.
  • Be specific about the time period you use.
  • Use zig zags or broken lines to show gaps.
  • Use images to illustrate events.
  • Be visuals and use colours.
  • Highlight only the most important events and information.

Do not forget to include five sentences using the 2nd and the 3rd conditonal.

A rubric to assess a timeline  will help you know how to do a great job (download in editable odt format, download in pdf).

Learning Diary

Now, write in your learning diary your reflections.

Here you have also some questions to answer:

  • What did I learn?
  • What was new to me?
  • Was there something that changed my views and why?
  • What did I not understand?  Why?
  • What was more difficult for me? Why?
  • What was easier for me? Why?
  • What do I think about learning English by using ICT?
