Your project. General Information

The aim of this project is to do a video presentation to promote becoming a changemaker as a final challange. Therefore, it is essential  to surf different websites and overcome several TASKS that will help you gain knowledge and acquire strategies.

Along this project:

We are learning to...
  • discuss the menaing of being a Changemaker,
  • tell the difference between 'needs' and 'wants,'
  • know the Sustainable Development Goals,
  • plan to make our world a better place,
  • use our own words to explain what solidarity means,
  • invent characters in a story in order to create a comic stripe,
  • plan a changemaker action to show solidarity,
  • tell others about the Global Goals,
  • make a digital poster,
  • do a quiz for classmates,
  • invent a song and perform it,
  • record a video promotion,
  • compare present situations with past ones,
  • express using the past simple,
  • know vocabulary related to sustainability,
  • practice intonation, stress and rhythm.
How?

By an Active Learning Methodology that make you active in your learning process during classroom activities. These strategies promote a change of focus in the teaching-learning process. Therefore, we refer to it as a student-centered methodology.  Active learning techniques include role-playing, group projects, think-pair-share, peer teaching, debates,  class discussion, etc. 

Your teacher

Your teacher will act mainly as:

  • informant and resource, providing suitable input (dialogues, narratives, descriptions, word meanings, etc.);
  • assessor and monitor of meaningful learning experiences;
  • diagnoser of interests and needs;
  • motivator, prompter and generator of positive attitudes;
  • provider, organiser, controller and participant of second language acquisition situations.

Your work

Before doing the final challenge you will have to do 4 main tasks. The tasks that you will have done at the end of this project are:

  • 1st TASK: doing a quizz for the classmates.
  • 2nd TASK: doing a comic strip.
  • 3rd TASK: inventing a song with the topic related to the 2030 Agenda.
  • 4th TASK: designing a digital poster.
  • The final challenge which consists of a video to promote the 2030 Agenda by comparing the the world now (after meeting the 17 SDGs) in 2030 and before.
Assessment

Your progress on this project will be assessed following these criteria:

  • Teacher's evaluation  each task (there are 4) and the final challenge.
  • Peer evaluation (of the final challenge):  creation of your own assessment sheet in order to evaluate your classmates. Include the items that you consider as appropriate.
  • Self-evaluation (of the final challenge). 
  • Teacher's observation (participation, work class, attitude, etc. )

Promoting your work

It is essential to promote the work you are doing  with your friends, family, school, town, etc.  in order to  make the Global Goals come true for everyone. They can become Changemakers if they work with you.

Therefore, you can publish or  you can share with the help of the online tools and apps listed below.

  • To publish, you will use Weebly site. An email account is required to create your own site where you will be posting all your tasks. Within this site, you will create a blog entitled 'Your learning diary' in which you will be including relevant information concerning your learning process.
  • To share your work with other people, you will use Pinterest, a digital board where you can publish your tasks and share them with your classmates.

At the end of the project, if you do a great job, your teacher will give you a certificate of particpation.

Learning diary or blog

A Learning diary will help you to develop your linguistic competence and  your autonomy in the learning process of English. Therefore, we encourage you to write your own reflections.  In order to do it, you will have to create your own  blog or  google site. Name it with your nickname and add the word CHANGEMAKER (ex. IsaCHANGEMAKER)

Before publishing, show your draft to the teacher.

Here you have the first questions to answer:

- Do  you think that the 2030 Agenda  will generate interest?
- Can you compare the content with the previous knowledge you have?
- How can you apply the content in your daily life?

Tools and Apps

To create, design and edit your work, you will be able to use the following apps, among others:

  1.  Canva, Genially and Google Slides  will enable you to design and create your own comics, quizzes and posters.
  2.  Wevideo, the tool with which you can create and edit a video about the Expo, which may be published on a YouTube channel. If you prefer, you can find other video-editing tools at the edtechteacher.org site.
  3. Kdenliven is a video editor.
  4. Magisto Movie is a video editor for mobile phones.

  1. What are the main topics of discussion?
  2. There are 17 goals but how many targets are there?
  3. Why do all nations have to work together?

What is sustainability?

Do you know more relevant information about the United Nations? If you do, share it with your peer.

  1. What does sustainability mean?
  2. Do our actions have impact in the planet?
  3. How can you figure out that something is sustainable?

Learning Diary

Now, write in your learning diary your reflections.
