The Mar Menor is polluted for many reasons. It is difficult to find a solution. Firstly in 2016, the water became green because some people spilt salt water and toxic liquids into the Mar Menor. Water became green because of the amount of seaweed so the light could not enter and plants could not do the photosynthesis. Then, strong rains in 2019 did not help and the salt lagoon became brown because of floods. This disaster produced a lack of oxygen and many fish died.
